Well I am certainly not an expert, but this lady seems to be. She says that we honestly don't need as much as we are told we do. Check out the link below!

Do you know what you are eating?
Nowadays, much of our food is made with processed ingredients and added chemicals to prevent it from going bad or to make it taste a certain way for less expense. Unsure which ingredients are really that healthy? Click on the link below.
Kashi's List of "Real Ingredients"
Note: for those of you veggies and vegans, not all of these products are animal free. However, as they are produced by Kashi, they are most likely farmed humanely.

So you think nothing can be done?
It is not the company who decides what will be produced, but the consumers. Whatever you buy is noted. Whatever sells is what becomes the demand. If consumers want organic food, companies will begin to sell what they want.
We think that all this technology and genetic motification is creating efficiency, but really, if people ate organic food, they would feel better and get sick less often.
People need to DEMAND healthy food and safe production, and eventually, it will happen, because otherwise companies will lose business. We should have a right to health. The FDA and USDA need to be influenced. Laws should be made. Pray for the health of our nation.

Not only is this form of production unhealthy, it is unreasonable.
Inovations are being ignored in the place of greed. Companies who sell the seeds are not allowing farmers to save seeds because then they won't buy more. Resources that could be used every season are now being wasted, and money is being spent.
When a company genetically modifies a plant, they can patent it. There are no publicly certified plants. Farmers are sued for trying to avoid purchase from big companies, and a monopoly is created. The system is organized so that whoever is richer, not whoever is correct, wins trials. In addition, politicians and those who run FDA are working in those corporations before or during their government involvement. "Government is being dominated by the industries it is meant to be regulating." Power to represent either side is being used against consumers and producers, and people are kept in the dark deliberately by laws against labeling, etc.
Companies fight against labeling calorie count, nutrition, country of origin, and genetic motification. The right to know how a food is made should be the most important. But it has become almost illegal to complain about food production and purchase! Oprah was sued for speaking negatively about the meat packing industry on her show! And companies have so many attournies, that they cannot be sued!

Why can you get a Double Double For 99 cents, but not get a head of broccoli?
They are cheaper because they are heavily subsidized and easy to make. Commodity crops of corn, wheat, and soy. NOWADAYS the obese are the poor! And they are STILL malnourished. People go for salt, sugar, and fat, which are all UNATURAL in most natural foods! America's impoverished cannot afford the time or money for grocery shopping OR cooking. Diabetes is becoming an epidemic. TYPE II, which is a result of diet. Modern farming is faster, bigger, and cheaper, but so is the lack of health.
You Should Be Disgusted. But Don't Preach to the Choir, Reach Those Who Least Believe It.

Food Inc. Movie
One of the farmers interviewed said that a person who treats animals like things that can be manipulated with hormones and unatural feeding and growth processes will probably not care if they are treating the individuals eating that meat with the same disregard.
A union coordinator stated that companies did not care about the discomfort of the animal because they would not be living long. In the same way, they did not care about the worker because they could be fired at any moment and easily replaced or exploited. Workers are preforming the same task over and over, and are getting injuries and infections. They are literally human machines.
In Upton's Sinclair, The Jungle, the worker was being exploited and the meat tainted. After the book was published, things soon got much better, but they later declined due to mass production and huge companies.
Not only is this mass production hurting health, it is hurting the economy of not just local businesses, but international farmers! Cheap American products are shipped out and are monopolizing foreign sales in their own country!
When we think we are buying cheap food, it is actually expensive. It is costly to our healthy, the economy, and the environment.
Corporation isn't bad, it just has to be strategically conquered and run by organic food producers and an ideal of sustainability. Sometimes, selling to big companies is the only way that organic companies can stay alive, and that the poor can afford and find these foods.
How is E-coli produced? Animals stand all day eating corn, are never moved, stand and live in their own feces, which is easily spread to other livestock. Corn is mass produced and fed to animals living in contained spaces, and waste products are flushed all at once into lakes and rivers. THIS IS NOT NATURAL PEOPLE! You wanna know natural farming? The cow grazes in a pasture, the cow fertilizes the land with its feces, the herd moves to another plot of land, and the grass grows again. IT IS SELF SUSTAINING! Mechanization is not evolution, we are devolving!
Often it seems that both producers and consumers are desensitized to production ideas they once thought unexceptable. People need to become aware again.
